Happy Valley Resort was midway along the Eastern Beach of Fraser Island, was established in the 1930ís. A Resort was commenced during that time but failed due to the economic depression. Until the 1960ís Happy Valley was hust a small, shabby collection of fishing shacks. Once established, the settlement expanded rabidly.
Happy Valley Resort was built in 1985. Constructed from natural Fraser Island Timbers including Satinays, the Resort comprises nine Timber Lodges nestled into the hillside of Happy Valley, with an outdoor entertaining area with Pool, BBQ facilities, Satinay Bar & Bistro and a convenience store.
The present owners, the Boyd Family, bought Happy Valley Resort in 1992, later renaming the Resort to " Fraser Island Retreat ".
