West  MacDonnell  Ranges

The Park, this vast and spectacular section of the MacDonnell Ranges, located west of Alice Springs, is an outstanding ensemble of an ancient landscape, rich colours, stark contrast, culture
and relict flora and fauna.

The Western MacDonnell Ranges area a perfect example of an arid landscape sculpture over time byclimatic elements.
Cool scenic gorges are important refuges for a collection of plants and animals, many of which are found only here and some are relicts of a bygone era of tropical forests.

Access:
Vehicule access to West MacDonnell, is via Larapinta Drive and Namatjira Drive. From the direction of Uluru, the unsealed mereenie Loop Road (4WD recommended) connects Watarrka National Park, with West MacDonnell.
